The Times News, AT&T and the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association are inviting students to enter an It Can Wait Essay Contest. Students can submit an editorial column or a feature article highlighting the dangers of texting while driving and explaining why teens should take the pledge to not text while driving.
YES. This is a local contest and the first place winner receives $300, the second place winner receives $200 and the third place winner receives $100. The entries will be judged by Marta Gouger, Editor of the Times News and Scott Masenheimer, Publisher of the Times News and the Lehigh Valley Press.
The first place winner's article will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Newsmedia Association's statewide contest and if they are selected as the statewide winner among all local newspapers' entries they will win another $500 prize!
Start submitting your entries now (500 word limit). We will accept entries up until January 15, 2016. Local winners will be announced on Jan 29th, 2016. The statewide winner will be announced on February 26th, 2016 and will be invited to the America East & Student Keystone Press Awards Luncheon in Hershey on April 6th, 2016.
